Site-specific sound installation.
This site specific sound/headphone installation explores boundaries between real and imaginary.
Electroacoustic composition made both for and from the field. The origin of the sound comes from straw field recording using stereo microphones. Through headphones connected to a portable player, you listen to the composition while sitting on a straw bale. I was interested to explore the tactile and sonic perception of experiencing a moment in this particular landscape. The wind, sun, the spiky straw: all contribute to the listening experience. At some point one cannot distinguish what the source of the sound is: am I listening to the recording or do I hear the actual sound of the surroundings?
Work produced in collaboration with Krysia Kordecki during Audiotalaia sound art camp, Ilzarbe, Spain.
